Celebrating Christmas
We will hold two services on Sunday, December 24th, as we have the privilege of having Christmas Eve on a Sunday this year. Our first service, at our normal 11am time, will be a service of Carols and Cookies. This will be a kid (of all ages!) centric worship experience to help us welcome Christmas and will be a lot of fun. Late that evening, at 9pm, we will hold a Watchnight Vigil. Similar to our Candlelight service, this service with Communion will help us usher in Christmas and provide a space for us to sing carols, reflect upon the past year, and will end with our singing of Silent Night to candlelight.
Watchnight services are part of many Christian traditions throughout the world, especially among Korean and African American Christians, and typically occur on New Years Eve. This year we are following the traditions developed in the Church of Scotland (out of which Presbyterians emerged) that locate Watchnight during Christmas Eve as a way for us to welcome in Christmas. We hope you will join us!
